And They All Come Out of the Woodwork
Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 9:28PM It never ceases to amaze me: when you have the least of a need for human interaction and distraction, they all come piling out like a Cal-Trans roadwork project. Today I sent out a "tweet" stating, essentially, that I am handling and taking care of me and mine, everyone else is on their own. No apologies. Well, not an hour after that tweet was sent (and subsequently posted to my Facebook and FriendFeed accounts), my IM and Facebook chat clients were blown-the-fuck-up by everyone and their mother wanting to hook up and do something. Is it my post that caused something to trigger in everyone's head that made them contact me at that moment? Maybe it's the fact that they are butt-fucking blind, but their subconscious picked that up as a calling card to get in contact with me, though that was the last thing I needed until I iron out all of these fucking details. Enough venting. I'm not apologizing: I pay the domain and hosting bills. Who's name is on this fucking site, anyway?
Tara's Got a New Toy
Monday, October 26, 2009 at 7:43PM
Tara is the proud owner of a new HTC Hero. It took very little convincing once she got it in her hands. She had been lusting over the Palm Pre nearly forever. Once she got the two of them, in her hands, side by side, there was no question for her. Now she can Twitter, check email, text, check Facebook, Flickr, and play Farm Frenzy... all in one place.
Tara wrote a post in her own point of view. You can read it here
I've Found a Social Network For Me!
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 3:42PM I'm usually an early adopter on most things social. I was one of the first million users of Twitter, an early user of FriendFeed, and a beta tester of Ping.FM. I have always had an enjoyment for the togetherness of the masses that the Web has brought us in the last few years.
When it comes to music based, social networks, I have used Slacker, iMeem, and Last.FM (which was probably my favorite). A number of the people I follow on Twitter were posting some of the things they were listening to, from Blip.FM, in their Twitter stream, and I had to check it out.
Now, this is my first day using it, but I love it. It isn't really set up like a radio station (like Last.FM). It's more user-centric. It is laid out like a Twitter stream, with the artist and song info in the stream, and buttons to re-blip, give "props'" and add the selected song to your own playlist. It's essentially like re-tweeting, @-ing someone, and adding favorites. Have I said how much I really like this?
Twitter Tests New "Verified Account"
Friday, June 12, 2009 at 12:38PM From their help page (found here):
"To prevent identity confusion, Twitter is experimenting (beta testing) with a 'Verified Account' feature. We're working to establish authenticity with people who deal with impersonation or identity confusion on a regular basis. Accounts with a
are the real thing!"
According to this help page, this new feature is to help those who deal with impostors on a regular basis. Those who have been verified are supposed to be real and authentic. It does not mean that the ones without the badge are fakes, they don't have the ability to verify every account. Therefore, they are slapping this badge on a handful of celebrity accounts.
Right now, they are starting with a handful of accounts of people known to have impersonators or identity confusion. They are currently verifying accounts belonging to "well-known artists, athletes, actors, public officials, and public agencies," but may verify more accounts in the future.
